On September 25, the Oriental Space Computing Industry Conference was held at the Hangzhou Grand Convention and Exhibition Center. This is the Fifth Global Digital Trade Expo, an professional exhibition focused on digital trade. At the same time, STAR.VISION and Oriental Starlink jointly unveiled the IDC.SPACE computing constellation and officially launched its development, marking a shift from single-satellite AI experimentation toward the establishment of constellation-scale infrastructure for space computing.
Oriental Space Computing Industry Conference & IDC.SPACE AI Constellation Launch Ceremony
The IDC.SPACE Constellation Launch Ceremony was co-hosted by the Space Computing Committee of Zhejiang Research Society of Development Zones, the ZJU-Hangzhou Global Scientific and Technological Innovation Center, STAR.VISION, and Oriental Starlink. Li Deren and Wang Jianyu, both world-renowned scientists in remote sensing and edge computing from the Chinese Academy of Science, delivered presentations on spatio-temporal intelligence, the development of the space computing industry, and constellation planning.
IDC.SPACE Launched to Advance Constellation-Scale Space Computing Infrastructure
IDC.SPACE is designed as space computing infrastructure serving global applications and deep-space exploration. The constellation is being jointly developed by STAR.VISION and Oriental Starlink. Oriental Starlink is responsible for overall constellation design and operations, while STAR.VISION leads the development of AI capabilities for the computing constellation and its international market expansion. Together, the two companies aim to advance onboard intelligence and the development of space computing infrastructure.
At the conference, the two companies also unveiled the next-generation AI satellite roadmap for IDC.SPACE, outlining an evolution across three generations: G1, G2, and G3.
This initiative builds on years of technological exploration and project development. STAR.VISION began exploring space computing in 2023, working to move satellites beyond simply observing Earth toward interpreting it, while exploring open and shared computing resources in orbit. With the launch of IDC.SPACE, these efforts are now extending to the constellation level, laying the groundwork for in-orbit data processing, space–ground collaboration, and global applications.
Bringing the Space Computing Ecosystem Together to Advance Collaborative Space AI
Building space computing infrastructure requires coordination across multiple parts of the industry, including satellite manufacturing, core technologies, launch services, and downstream applications. During the conference, IDC.SPACE further expanded collaboration across the space computing value chain, creating opportunities for industry partners to contribute to the development of an integrated ecosystem.
From single-satellite intelligence to constellation-scale infrastructure, and from technological exploration to industrial collaboration, the launch of IDC.SPACE marks a new stage in STAR.VISION’s development of space computing. Looking ahead, STAR.VISION will continue working with industry partners to advance onboard AI technologies and space computing applications, while expanding opportunities for global collaboration.
